How to get what you really want in life

How to get what you really want in life

Welcome to a subscriber-only edition.

Today I'm going to talk about a mindset game that everyone should play if you want to achieve things in life.

To get to a certain point, you have to start from somewhere. The starting point might be very far from what you want to achieve. And it's normal.

The secret is if you want anything in life, obsess about it and stick with it along the way.

It's easy said than done. But here is the thing - you have to train your brain about it to ignite the law of attraction.

Your thoughts and your feelings create your life ~ Lisa Nichols

I had been dreaming of studying abroad since I was in the middle school age. My family kept talking about sending me to a high school or college in the US until they went through a challenging period of time that never could afford it anymore.

Here is the lesson that I learned:

Yourself is the best resource in life. Be independent and learn to create your own future. - Anh Thu Do

It was time when I realized that no one but myself will create my own future. I promised to myself that college tuition fee in Vietnam would be the last thing that my parents had to pay for me as an adult.

I started working part-time to earn money to invest in my learnings. At 22, I had never been to any country outside of Vietnam, my passport was full of blank pages.

But the desire of seeing the world was really my obsession.

Literally did I know how to achieve that. After researching carefully about MBA/MS programs, I noticed that I needed a lot of materials to craft a convincing story to get accepted into top 5 MBA schools in the US with financial aid. And I, of course, couldn't find 200K+ USD to pay for the entire tuition fee.

With limited resource in hand, I kept thinking to myself that "I want to go abroad to see the world." That thought repeated and repeated in my mind that created strength to help me move forward.

At that time, I was aware that some people did couch-surfing (a cheap way to travel by sleeping at someone's couch) and NGO volunteering. But I was looking for a safer and more elite way to travel as a young woman after reading some scary stories about couch-surfing.

In 2013, one of my college friends told me that he got accepted to 2 short exchange programs in the top universities in Australia and Japan with stipend and full accommodation cover during the stays. It was an eye-opening experience for me.
