People love seeking work-life balance. It's a popular but not-easy-to-achieve thing.
My key takeaways for this topic:
1. Rather than thinking it as a "goal", considering it as a "working process" as you need to constantly work on it.
2. In different phases in life, the definition of "balance" will change.
3. "Balance" can be achieved in the current moment by answering the key question: "What's important to you NOW?"
4. There is no perfect work-life balance practice as it depends on your inner values and resonant choices.
5. Please aware that a balance may come with "trade-offs" as it's not easy to achieve everything you want at once in life.
A great example is that when I was in my 20s, I was an ambitious workaholic, active traveler and workout addict. One thing that I had to sacrifice to achieve that lifestyle was my health, especially my sleeping hour. I only spent 4-5 hours sleeping at night. But it was the right "balance" for me at that time because I valued other priorities in life.
Now I'm in my 30s and struggling with sleeping deprivation because of having kid, health and sleeping hours become my top priorities I need to maintain. And that's why my definition of "balance" is now very different.
What is your definition of work-life balance?
